How to Get Will Registered?

A will is document that contains your direction for separation of asset to the dependents. A will is a legal document that contains your wishes regarding the distribution of your property and the care of any minor child. If you die without a will those wishes may not be carried out forever your heirs may end up spending additional time money and emotion to settle their affairs after you gone a will is officially known as a last will and testament .

A will  is a document that contains your direct wishes that whom do you want to transfer your property assets .

Some people think that only the very wealthy and those with complicate  assets needs will however there are many good reasons to have a will .

Some of the good reasons include that you can be clear about who gets your assets . And how much. You can keep your Assets out of the hands of people you don’t want to have them . It helps in resolving future disputes between your family members and your children’s.

Person who makes the will is known as the testator.

After making the will the will need to registered at the office of sub registrar which is in the jurisdiction of the residence of the testator. There is no specific time frame for registration of a will it can be registered anytime during lifetime of testator.

Process of registration of a will 

At first we have to do the online registration process  and all the details of will  should be same  that we are going to mention in hard copy while doing the online registration process. eg address of witnesses . ,names etc

The website for online registration and  appointment is(NGDRS).

Then only the appointment will be booked.

Documents required for Registering the will,

1) 2 photo’s of Testator

2) orignal Aadhar card 

3) 2 witness with their orignal Aadhar card & photo copy of their Aadhar card.

4) 2 copies of will minimum (4 pages), single side.

5) Receipt of  (₹ 617) from stock holding.

On the date of appointment 

Testator and 2 witness with 2 photographs and  there orignal Aadhar card should be present.

Will should be of minimum 4 pages.

Single side print and two copies.

Photo of testator is required on will.

Then all the process will be done by sub registrar office on the date of appointment that we will get through online registration.

Once the will is made and registered then it will come into effect after the death of the testator. Before this the testator who has made the will can get the copy from the sub registrar office .

After the death of the testator family members of the testator can get a copy of will after due verification of their identity.

In India the registration of a will is not compulsory under Indian registration act whether registered or not registered a will must be duly and validly executed as required by the Indian succession act however in cases where a will is related to immovable property it is advisable to register the same. Once the will is  registered at the sub registrar office then it cannot be tempered , destroy or stolen.
